The demand for preferential mortgages for IT specialists turned out to be lower than expected by the Ministry of Digital Development, Kommersant writes with reference to banks, developers and market participants.

At the end of 2022, 5,000 such loans were issued in Russia for a total amount of 44.79 billion rubles, the publication notes, citing statistics from DOM.RF. The Ministry of Digital Development, according to the publication, expected that the number of loans issued would be about 10,000 such loans. According to the statistics of the department, the total amount of loans issued in 2022 exceeded 47 billion rubles.

Employees of IT companies take preferential mortgages less often than expected due to difficult registration conditions, a source close to one of the major developers said in a conversation with the publication. Sources from among the participants in the market of IT companies added that large corporations have their own mortgage programs.

Recall that the preferential mortgage program for IT specialists in Russia was launched in May 2022 against the backdrop of their massive departure from the country. Employees of accredited Russian IT companies can get a loan under this program at a rate of up to 5% per annum.
