A quarter of the St. Petersburg businessmen surveyed are going to enter foreign markets in the next 3 years. This is reported by “Business Petersburg”, referring to the data of the business club “Atlanta”.
The leaders in the survey were the markets of the CIS countries (30%), Asia (28%) and Latin America (13%).
The majority assesses their own prospects very optimistically. About a third of St. Petersburg entrepreneurs plan to stabilize business performance in new regions during the first 2 years, 15% – in 3-5 years, 5% – in 5 or more.
Mikhail Belousov, General Director of the Marshal Group of Companies, believes that St. Petersburg companies could offer the markets of the CIS, Asia and Latin America products of mechanical engineering, metalworking, chemical industry and the production of high-tech goods.
Transport and logistics companies have become the most active in terms of expansion to the CIS markets.
Vadim Filatov, Deputy Director of the First Forwarding Company (PEC), believes that Russian business has quickly shifted its focus to alternative suppliers and sales markets in the countries of Southeast, Central and Central Asia, as well as the CIS.
However, the logistics business working with China is facing difficulties due to the resulting congestion of ports. According to Filatov, the terminals in the port of Vladivostok are 150% loaded with shipments.
