According to Bychek, the initial investigative actions allow us to conclude that “agents of the special services of the Republic of Poland from among the so-called fugitive Belarusians” were used in the preparation of the attack – they, according to the KGB, helped the suspect in the attack on the territory of Belarus.
Investigators opened a criminal case under Art. 289 of the Criminal Code (act of terrorism). Those convicted can face up to 15 years in prison. As part of the case, more than 20 people were detained, including the direct executor.
The KGB representative noted that the operation to search for and detain criminals took place under the direct control of the head of state. “As a result, an agent network was opened and liquidated from among the citizens of the Republic of Belarus who took part in ensuring the activities of the terrorist agent, his legalization on the territory of the Republic of Belarus and an unsuccessful evacuation attempt,” he said.
On Tuesday, Alexander Lukashenko said that an agent of the Ukrainian special services and more than 20 of his accomplices, who were involved in an attempt to sabotage an A-50 aircraft, were detained in Belarus.
