New intelligence data indicates the involvement of a pro-Ukrainian group in the Nord Stream bombings. The New York Times writes about this, citing sources.

According to the NYT, despite official Kyiv’s claims that it was not involved in blowing up gas pipelines, new intelligence suggests that some kind of pro-Ukrainian group, which includes both citizens of Ukraine and Russia, carried out the sabotage. The article states that citizens of Great Britain and the United States did not participate in the sabotage.

The explosives, according to the interlocutors of the publication, were planted with the help of experienced divers, who probably had not previously worked for the military or intelligence services. At the same time, it is possible that in the past the members of the group underwent special training, the sources indicated.

At the same time, unnamed US officials said they found no evidence of Russian involvement in attacks on gas pipelines.

The NYT interlocutors noted that there are still “huge gaps” in the American and European intelligence communities in the case of sabotage at Nord Stream, but new data “may be the first significant clue arising from several closely guarded investigations.”

At the same time, the newspaper writes that any suggestion of Ukraine’s involvement in the explosions, whether direct or indirect, “could disrupt the difficult relationship between Ukraine and Germany, undermining the support of the German public.”

A CIA spokesman declined to comment for the NYT. A spokesman for the US National Security Council referred the journalists to European authorities who are investigating.

Recall that on February 8, the well-known American journalist Seymour Hersh published an investigation into the Nord Stream incident, in which he accused the United States and Norway of being involved in the bombing. The White House and the European Commission called this information unreliable. After the publication of an article about the involvement of the pro-Ukrainian group in the Nord Stream bombings, Hersh made it clear that he did not take the information seriously and promised to publish new data from his investigation next week.

Explosions at Nord Stream and Nord Stream 2 occurred at the end of September 2022. Operator Nord Stream AG reported unprecedented damage. Russian President Vladimir Putin blamed the “Anglo-Saxons” for the explosion, for whom the disruption of the Nord Stream, in his opinion, was “beneficial”.
