Employees of the Main Investigative Directorate of the Investigative Committee of Russia for Moscow conducted searches at the home of bloggers Valeria and Artem Chekalin, against whom a criminal case was initiated on tax evasion.
As follows from the video posted by the UK, several passports, boxes with expensive jewelry, as well as elite foreign cars in the garage were found in the bloggers’ house.
After the searches, the couple was taken in for questioning. According to a RIA Novosti source, a measure of restraint in the form of house arrest will be requested for the Chekalins.
According to investigators, Valeria Chekalina (Lerchek) used a simplified form of taxation, which is applied to individual entrepreneurs with an income of up to 150 million rubles, but her earnings significantly exceeded this threshold. The woman attracted her husband, other relatives – to the accounts of individual entrepreneurs registered on them and income from her projects was received. The amount of unpaid taxes is estimated at 300 million rubles.
With more than 10 million subscribers, Valery Chekalina is in the TOP-5 of the most popular bloggers in Russia. On her blog, she gives self-care tips and also runs fitness marathons. The 30-year-old blogger also owns a cosmetics brand.
