The number of flower shops in Russia decreased by 17.9% in three years. During this period, more than 4,000 retail outlets were closed in the country, RIA Novosti reports with reference to the calculations of the Kontur.Focus service.
According to the service, in January 2020, 24,546 companies were engaged in the flower business, and in March 2023 there were 20,153 of them. At the same time, the largest reduction in companies in the industry occurred during the first coronavirus lockdown: in the year since the start of the pandemic in Russia, there were 3 thousand .fewer flower shops. Peak liquidation of companies fell in December 2020 – then 1,407 organizations left the industry in a month. In just 3 years, 12,286 businessmen have decided to liquidate their companies.
Analysts also note that after the end of the COVID-19 epidemic, the number of organizations continued to decrease, but not at such a rapid pace, and decreased by 471 points last year.
At the same time, in January-February of this year, analysts recorded a slight increase: the number of flowers increased from 19,979 to 20,153. The trend to open companies on the eve of International Women’s Day has been observed for all three years, ”the study notes.
