Modern microwave ovens are safe for human health and cannot provoke the appearance of cancer when using them, with the exception of some cases. Oncologist Ivan Karasev stated this to the Doctor Peter portal.
The expert noted that microwaves “can not physically cause any cancer.” However, such risks appear only “if we are dealing with faulty, non-certified equipment made by craftsmen, as they say, on the knee.”
The doctor emphasized that it is important to use the device according to the instructions for use. So, the safe distance to a working microwave oven is at least half a meter.
At the same time, he added, there are cases of a malignant tumor of the organs of the reproductive system in fast food sellers, since they are constantly at work 10 centimeters from the microwave. But this connection has not yet been finally proven, Karasev noted.
At home, it is much more important in which dishes you heat food, the doctor said. According to him, it is not the microwave oven itself that can harm, but the dishes in which the food is heated. These are disposable plates.
“In this case, some of the synthetic substances end up in food,” Karasev said. And, if a person does this constantly, “then over time the cumulative effect will be, perhaps even in the form of an oncological disease,” the doctor warned.
