The Taliban movement (a terrorist organization banned in Russia), which seized power in Afghanistan, sold helicopters to Russia and China that the US military left during the withdrawal of troops from the country, former US President Donald Trump said at the Conservative Political Action Conference.
So many weapons and equipment remain in Afghanistan, Trump said, that the Taliban’s army has become “the second most well-endowed in the world.” At the same time, he claims that the Taliban sell some military equipment, including Apache helicopters: in particular, they allegedly sold one such helicopter to Russia, and another one to China. Trump suggested that Moscow and Beijing would take apart this technique, study it and copy it.
According to US Special Inspector General for Afghanistan Reconstruction John Sopko, during the uncoordinated withdrawal of troops, Washington left at least $7.2 billion worth of weapons, military equipment and equipment in Afghanistan. All this ended up at the disposal of the country’s new authorities.
