The tragic incident happened during the testing of the Il-76MD-90A aircraft in Ulyanovsk.
As Interfax reports with reference to the press service of the United Aircraft Corporation (UAC), “a tragic incident occurred at the Aviastar plant during testing of the aircraft fuselage section, which is in production.” It is noted that one employee died, several people were injured.
The UAC explained that the incident occurred during a leak test of the fuselage – at this moment, excess pressure is pumped into the compartments.
Currently, emergency services are working on the spot, the circumstances and causes of the emergency are being investigated.
The governor of the region, Aleksey Russkikh, wrote on his Telegram channel that three people injured in the incident at an aircraft manufacturing plant in Ulyanovsk are in a moderate condition.
“I have now visited the injured workers of Aviastar in the hospital. In total, an ambulance delivered four people to the Central City Clinical Hospital (Central City Clinical Hospital) of Ulyanovsk. After a diagnostic examination, one of the victims was allowed to go home for outpatient treatment. Three more were hospitalized in a state of moderate severity,” he said.
Il-76MD-90A is a transport aircraft, which is a deep modernization of the Il-76 aircraft.
