The Leningrad Regional Court, on the basis of a jury verdict, delivered a guilty verdict against four members of an organized group in a criminal case of drug trafficking on an especially large scale. According to TASS with reference to the press service of the prosecutor’s office of the Leningrad region, the head of the group received a life sentence.
“The court, agreeing with the position of the public prosecutor, sentenced the head of the organized group to life imprisonment, the rest of the accomplices – to imprisonment for terms of 17 to 20 years. They will serve their sentence in a strict regime penal colony. Also, 23 million rubles and 5 cars were confiscated to the state’s income, ”the report says.
The court found that in 2019, the defendants produced more than 2.5 tons of drugs in an equipped room in the Tosnensky district of the Leningrad region. The men planned to produce more than 6 tons of drugs. In addition, more than 19 kg of a mixture containing this drug was sold in the Irkutsk region.
It is specified that the participants of the organized group were found guilty under Part 5 of Art. 228.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (“Illegal production of narcotic drugs”), part 3 of Art. 30 h. 5 art. 228.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (“Attempt on the production and sale of narcotic drugs by an organized group on an especially large scale”).
