The International Automobile Federation has made changes to the regulations regarding the conditions for admission to competitions of athletes from Russia and Belarus. It is reported by RBC with reference to the FIA statement.
The new version of the document says that Russian and Belarusian racers who also have citizenship of other countries, who compete in international competitions under a different flag or with a license from another country, are required to sign a declaration on distancing themselves from the special operation in Ukraine. Otherwise, they will not be allowed to start.
In mid-February, the FIA already amended the regulations – then it was indicated that athletes with a second citizenship would not be required to sign this document.
The FIA announced in March last year that Russian racing drivers would not be able to compete under the auspices of the organization unless they signed a declaration of commitment to the principles of peace and political neutrality, including solidarity with Ukraine.
In particular, due to the refusal to sign this document, the Russian KAMAZ-master team missed the Dakar rally last year.
