A grandiose project for the construction of the Big Circle Metro Line (BKL) has been completed in the capital. The movement along the entire length of the new “ring” was inspired by Russian President Vladimir Putin and Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin.
The last nine BCL stations were put into operation: Maryina Roshcha, Rizhskaya, Sokolniki, Tekstilshchiki, Pechatniki, Nagatinsky Zaton, Klenovy Bulvar, Kashirskaya and Varshavskaya.
As the president noted, the LCL has become the world’s largest underground metro ring in terms of length, overtaking the former leader, the Beijing metro ring line. “We will meet with the President of the People’s Republic of China, if the program allows, we will be happy to show it to our guests,” Putin said.
Sergei Sobyanin called the discovery historic. “This is the largest and most difficult project in the history of metro construction, this is the new heart of the Moscow transport system, which combines the MCD, MCC, and metro lines into a single transport system, and allows you to connect new metro lines, creating the future of the transport system,” said He.
According to the mayor, all BKL stations have their own unique look, as “inherited in the history of the subway.” The implementation of the project has become extremely important for the renewal of the passenger train of the capital’s subway. “Over this period, we have created a whole school of mechanical engineering, which is now in no way inferior to foreign train manufacturers,” Sobyanin explained.
The length of the new metro ring is 70 km, it includes three electric depots and 31 stations, 30 of which were built in five years. As Sergei Sobyanin noted in the Telegram channel, the BCL will improve transport services for 15 million residents of Moscow and the Moscow region. Already today, it is possible to make transfers from it to 20 metro stations, 3 to the MCC, 8 to MCD-1 and MCD-2. Passengers will save up to 45 minutes a day on the way. In addition, the BKL will unload other subway lines, and the journey will become more comfortable.
“We have done a tremendous job – we have completed the construction of the world’s largest ring – and we want every passenger to be able to appreciate its convenience. Within 5 days, entrance to the metro at any BKL station will be free,” said the mayor of Moscow.
