At the meeting of the foreign ministers of the G20 countries, which will be held in New Delhi on March 1-2, the Indian authorities expect to “resolve differences” between the members of the G7, Russia and China, writes the Times of India. This is expected to allow the G20 to focus on “achieving macroeconomic stability and inclusive growth.”
At the same time, according to the publication, a joint statement is unlikely to be made following the meeting, but the Indian government hopes that the participants will be able to reach an agreement on some issues, just like at the November G20 summit.
One of the central topics of the G20 summit in Indonesia was the conflict between Russia and Ukraine. In the final statement, most of the G20 member countries “strongly condemned” Russia’s actions in Ukraine, but the document noted that “there are other opinions.” The Russian side insisted on this addition.
Recall that India has been chairing the G20 since December 1. In this regard, Prime Minister Narendra Modi promised that New Delhi will work to “promote a universal sense of unity.”
