The authorities stated that the identification of 41 bodies has already been achieved, of the 61 that the Police removed from the penitentiary.
After holding meetings with the leaders of the different functions of the State, President Guillermo Lasso could pronounce tomorrow on the serious situation of the entire prison system that this last weekend left a balance of 61 deceased prisoners of liberty.
In a statement published by the National Government it is detailed that the President has held meetings to outline strategies and decisive actions to address the prison situation, but it requires a meeting with the leaders of various functions of the State to address the situation in a comprehensive manner.

On Sunday’s session, the results of the actions already undertaken in the intervention at the Guayas No. 1 Center for the Deprivation of Liberty were evaluated and analyzed the next measures to be taken in the fight against violence, organized crime and drug trafficking, according to the government statement.

At the moment, 25 of them have already been delivered to their families and it is expected that at the end of Sunday night another five bodies will be delivered, while actions will continue to identify the remaining corpses. The names of the deceased will be released once all the families make the match.
