The UK government will provide Ukrainians who live in the country with three thousand tickets for Eurovision 2023. It is reported by RBC with reference to the statement of the government of the United Kingdom.
Under the terms of the contest this year, Eurovision was supposed to take place on the territory of Ukraine, however, due to the ongoing military conflict in the country, the event will be held in Liverpool on May 13.
The British government also set aside £10m (nearly $12m) for a “showcase of Ukrainian culture” at the event. The money will be used to support partnerships between the Liverpool City Council and the British Broadcasting Corporation BBC with Ukrainian artists and performers.
Ukrainian rap-folk group Kalush Orchestra with the song Stefania took first place in the annual Eurovision Song Contest 2022 in May last year. The group’s total score reached 631. The UK came in second with 466 points.
Russia did not take part in the competition last year. The day after the start of the military operation in Ukraine, the organizers of Eurovision banned her participation.
