China’s peace plan to resolve the conflict in Ukraine can only be beneficial for Russia, US President Joe Biden said in an interview with ABC television.
“I didn’t see anything in the plan that would be beneficial to anyone other than Russia,” the American leader stressed. At the same time, he called “irrational” the idea that China is going to negotiate the outcome of the conflict, which is “absolutely unfair for Ukraine.”
State Department spokesman Ned Price was also skeptical of China’s plan to resolve the conflict.
Recall, earlier, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky said that he considers China’s proposals for a settlement “not a plan of action, but Beijing’s reflections on this topic.” In turn, the head of European diplomacy, Josep Borrell, also said that he did not consider China’s proposals on Ukraine to be a peace plan. In his opinion, it is rather a positional document.
On the eve of the Chinese Foreign Ministry issued a statement with the position of Beijing on the political settlement of the Ukrainian crisis. The document consists of 12 points, among which is the need to respect the sovereignty and territorial integrity of all countries and the resumption of direct dialogue between Moscow and Kiev.
