US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken will travel to Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and India from February 28 to March 3, 2023. This was reported by Interfax with reference to the US State Department.
The report said that on February 28 in Astana, he will meet with senior Kazakh officials “to deepen bilateral cooperation.”
The Kazakh Foreign Ministry specified that Blinken would be received by President Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev and would hold talks with Kazakh Foreign Minister Mukhtar Tleuberdi.
On the same day, Astana will host a ministerial meeting of the heads of foreign affairs agencies of Central Asian countries and the United States in the C5 + 1 format (Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan + the United States) with the participation of Blinken.
According to the State Department, the meeting “will focus on strengthening economic, energy, environmental and security cooperation” between the US and five Asian states.
Separate meetings are also scheduled with “high-ranking government officials” from Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Turkmenistan to discuss “opportunities for bilateral and multilateral cooperation and advance the common goal of creating a prosperous, secure and democratic region.”
In Uzbekistan, Blinken will meet with country officials “to further advance partnerships on a range of bilateral and regional issues.”
On March 1, Blinken will travel to Delhi to attend the G20 Foreign Ministers’ Meeting and will also meet with Indian government and civil society officials “to reaffirm the strong partnership” between the two countries, the State Department said.
