The Information and Security Service of Moldova announced the disclosure of a foreign intelligence network that operated in the republic. It is reported by TASS.
“Five people are under investigation: citizens of Moldova, two of whom were detained and placed in custody in December 2022, three more are in the status of suspects. They were recruited by representatives of the secret services of a third country to assist in actions described in the criminal code as hostile activities against the Republic of Moldova, as well as in destabilization actions aimed at violating the constitutional order in the state with the use of violence,” the SIS said in a published statement.
Foreign citizens are also in the field of view of the law enforcement agencies of the republic, who, according to investigators, financed and led the subversive activities of immigrants from Moldova. This group has been under investigation since 2020. The SIS believes that they are involved in organizing mass protests and inciting ethnic hatred.
