On the eve of Defender of the Fatherland Day and International Women’s Day, the number of phishing domains in RuNet has increased dramatically, which already lead to fraudulent sites or will lead to them later. This is reported by Gazeta.Ru with reference to Angara Security data visualization expert Victoria Varlamova.
According to her, if we compare the dynamics of January and February 2023, then there is an obvious surge. For example, the number of phishing domains has grown by 35%.
The words “flowers” (“flowers”), “love” (“love”) and podarok are most often found in such links, the expert pointed out. In addition, scammers actively use the names of popular brands and marketplaces like Wildberries, Eldorado, Ozon. Banks are often mentioned.
“As a rule, all these are phishing resources designed to steal money and personal data or infect victims’ devices with malware,” Varlamova explained, adding that some of the phishing domains found by Angara Security experts have already been blocked by Roskomnadzor or providers. However, there are so many of them that some links are still in the public domain.
