Italy can supply Ukraine with five Tornado fighters and Amx attack aircraft. It is reported by La Repubblica.
The newspaper notes that the sending of aircraft will take place only on the condition that Italy will not be the first country to send them to Kyiv.
On February 19, British Defense Secretary Ben Wallace said that it would be a long time before anyone would supply fighter jets to Ukraine, and it was necessary to be honest on this issue. According to him, there will be no quick deliveries of aircraft either at this stage of the conflict or in six months. Wallace believes that military aviation will not help Ukraine quickly stop the conflict: the country now needs not fighters, but to strengthen the ground forces. “There is no magic wand in this terrible conflict,” the minister stressed.
Germany and the United States refuse to transfer combat aircraft to Kyiv. At the same time, the White House stated that they would welcome the transfer of fighters to Ukraine by other countries. According to The New York Times, the US presidential administration does not rule out the transfer of F-16s to Kyiv through third countries, including through Denmark or the Netherlands. On February 10, the Ukrainian authorities sent an application to the Netherlands for the supply of F-16 fighters.
