In St. Petersburg next week frosts are expected to minus 20 degrees, but only at night. This was told by the chief forecaster of St. Petersburg Alexander Kolesov.

On Monday morning in the center of St. Petersburg it was up to minus 12 degrees, on the outskirts – up to minus 16 degrees.

“The anticyclone has not yet come, but only clearings have formed, it immediately froze decently. It should be noted this short working week, it will be frosty and more like the weather during the New Year holidays, since the rest of the time we have relatively warm or even thaw. Atmospheric pressure will gradually rise, but the anticyclone will come to our regions only in the middle of the week and the frost will intensify further,” Alexander Kolesov noted.

Such weather will last in St. Petersburg until the arrival of the next cyclone, which is expected from 23 to 24 February. The cyclone will bring warming and snowfalls.

Very little precipitation is expected this week and the weather may be clearer – the sun will appear.

In terms of air temperature, at night in St. Petersburg, it drops to minus 15 degrees, and in the vicinity to minus 20 degrees, in the daytime to minus 7, but maximum and only in the middle of the day. And when the cyclone comes, it will warm up to zero to minus 5 degrees. “So those who are freezing, hope for the second half of the week,” said the chief city forecaster.
