Representatives of the Moldovan authorities should be more careful about the presence of Russian peacekeepers in Transnistria, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said. According to RBC, he said this in response to the words of the new Moldovan Prime Minister Dorin Recean about the demilitarization of the region.

The press secretary of the Russian president noted that Moscow and Chisinau have “very tense” relations, Moldova “is slipping into such anti-Russian hysteria” and such a “lack of constructivism is unlikely” to help the republic.

“As for Pridnestrovie, we continue to perform our respective functions. I would like to recommend our Moldovan counterparts to be very, very careful,” he said.

We are talking about Rechan’s statement, which he made on TV8 on February 18, two days after he was approved by parliament as head of government. He stated that Transnistria should be demilitarized through the withdrawal of Russian troops, it is also necessary to carry out economic and social integration of citizens.

Recean also stressed that a “hybrid war” is going on against Moldova, and although the country has declared its neutrality, it needs to take care of strengthening its defenses in order to repel “potential aggression.”
