Russians again lead among foreign homebuyers in Turkey in January

In January 2022, Russian citizens purchased 1,557 houses and apartments in Turkey, topping the list of foreign home buyers in this country, according to a report by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TURKSTAT).

The second place in transactions with residential real estate is occupied by the Iranians (526 transactions), the third – by the Iraqis (229 transactions). Citizens of Ukraine are in fourth place (157 transactions), and representatives of Kazakhstan close the top five, having bought 155 apartments and houses. Thus, the Russians made more transactions than the citizens of the other four countries included in the top 5 combined, RBC emphasizes.

In total, in January 2023, according to TURKSTAT, 4,161 residential properties were purchased by foreign citizens in Turkey. The most popular location among foreign buyers in January this year was Antalya, where 1.59 thousand lots were sold. Second place is occupied by Istanbul (1.38 thousand lots), closes the top three Mersin (331 lots).

For the first time, Russians became leaders among foreigners who bought residential real estate in Turkey, following the results of 2022, with more than 16.3 thousand purchased lots. In 2021, they were in third place (5379 lots), in 2020 they were also third (3078).
