Shots in the Penitentiary were heard until the early hours of this Saturday

Several videos went viral during the night of Friday and early this Saturday about the new incidents reported in the Litoral Penitentiary.

Neighbors of the surrounding areas and even of urbanizations that are kilometers from the Penitentiary, in front of the Daule River, reported gusts during the night.

The Police mobilized elements to the area of ​​the penitentiary after learning of the new confrontations of inmates.

The hashtag #PenitenciariaDelLitoral has been a trend since Friday night due to the riots.

Detainees transmitted videos from the Penitentiary in which they asked for help and expressed their fear at the gunshots that were heard in the pavilions.

“They want to get in through one of the doors … Help us with the Police, with the military,” said an inmate from a transmission on social networks.

The versions that circulated indicated that inmates from pavilions 3 and 6 were trying to enter pavilion 2. It is known that pavilion two is led by an inmate named Ben 10. Pavilions 3 and 6 are led by alias JR.

Dozens of families went to the outside of the Penitentiary to find out the status of their relatives.

During the early morning, images of deceased people circulated, but until 07:00 the authorities did not confirm the injuries or deaths.

Faced with the situation in the Penitentiary, the road to Daule was closed to traffic and this caused severe congestion.

The disturbances in the prison began the same day that the police detected an arsenal that was trying to enter the premises. Three inmates who came out of their pavilions and jumped over the wall tried to enter rifles, grenades and ammunition.
