You, dear reader, are probably interested in information related to the election results of last Sunday, February 5, when the citizens, by responding to the roll call, respected their right and duty to vote. The right to vote is an important expression of democracy because the citizen can directly choose between different candidates with his vote when it comes to determining certain power holders in the country or approve or withhold something important to solve a serious problem, as happens with a referendum. or public consultation. The answers expressed by voting refer exclusively to the content of the question. The rest are interpretations that can be very different, depending on who issues them. Citizens are the source of political power and the legitimacy of the Government’s actions, so the state through its institutions must guarantee respect and observance of the will of the people.

When these lines are formed, the result of the vote is not yet officially known, but what is clear is that, as in all human works, this process has left more than one lesson, that every party, every leader, every candidate and, by the way, every citizen will be able to recognize. The challenge is to go further and ask if things are like this, what can we do, regardless of where we are on the social network?

Citizens are the source of political power and legitimacy of government action…

It is likely that the mass presence of young people, adults and the elderly at the polling stations had different motives, from the desire to contribute their vote to the victory of their candidate, the intention of expressing support for a political party or movement, the certainty that a change or implementation is necessary to obtain a certificate because it is needed for many procedures. But there is no doubt that everyone, each in their own way, expressed their longing for another country. In other words, we agree that we should do better, that we are burdened by insecurity, unemployment, difficulties in solving health problems and concern for children’s education, but if so, we need greater agreements, to find a way together that will solve the problems of those who are voted against and those who voted yes.

in the gray range

Perhaps the biggest problem in the country is that we do not know how to dialogue, to listen to each other without prejudice, to make mutual concessions, to overcome individual or party interests in order to think about the community. Nor do we prepare to give our vote to those who deserve it, because we do not examine who they are, what their functions would be and whether they are capable of performing them. This weakens democracy, exercising the right to vote is reduced to putting lines on ballots that do not always represent the voter’s opinion. We are not educated to behave civilly, this is a major weakness of our education system and our society, and working on it could be another deal, if it is true that we want a fair, just and safe country.
