US authorities will continue to seize Russian assets. Now the US is assessing how best to dispose of those already confiscated, said State Department spokeswoman Daphne Rand.
According to her, now the US authorities are trying to figure out how best to dispose of the confiscated Russian assets. Rand indicated that Washington intends to support the Ukrainian people “in difficult times.”
She stressed that the Justice Department team will continue to confiscate assets in accordance with the law approved in December.
Earlier, US Attorney General Merrick Garland announced the transfer of the confiscated assets of a Russian businessman to the needs of Ukraine. He made such an announcement after a meeting with the Prosecutor General of Ukraine Andriy Kostin. As Garland clarified, we are talking about the assets of businessman Konstantin Malofeev, who is under US and EU sanctions. He stressed that the funds seized from the businessman will be transferred to the disposal of the State Department, which uses them “to support the people of Ukraine.”
