Ecuador has eleven days of national holidays for ten festivities, including civic and religious. Good Friday, within Holy Week, is one of these days.

Holy Week is the most important time in the liturgical calendar for Catholic Christians. because it commemorates the passion, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, the central mysteries of the faith.
Holy Week was originally called the Great Week. Now it is called Holy Week or Greater Week and its days are called holy days. This year 2023 the holy week begins on Sunday, April 2 and ends on Sunday, April 9. Every day has meaning.
Thus, Good Friday, corresponding to April 7, will be a non-recoverable national holiday.
According to the law on holidays, in force since 2016, the country has eleven days of rest annually at the national level that are not recovered: January 1, Carnival Monday and Tuesday, Good Friday, May 1, May 24, August, October 9, November 2 and 3 and December 25.
These dates are defined until the year 2025with the aim that citizens and the tourism sector can plan their next tours of Ecuador, according to what the Ministry of Tourism said at the time.
In addition, in each province a day is added for local festivals, for a total of twelve holidays. (YO)
