The six ships brought 3,341 passengers and 2,462 crew members, and the vast majority descended to see fairs and crafts displayed in Manta and Montecristi. In other words, a total of 5,803 people arrived at the port of Manabita.

A research work carried out by students from the State University of the South of Manabí, from Jipijapa, learned a little about the expenses that the visitors made on average, and they concluded that on average they spend close to $100, although some invest more than that amount. , because they buy fine toquilla straw hats that cost between $300 to $500.

The reason that the average investment does not exceed $100, according to this investigation, is because the stay of the visitors is short, most of the time it is for hours, for this reason their visit is limited in urban areas. from Manta and Montecristi.

Based on that university research, if the investment of an average of $100 for each person who arrived in Manta is taken exactly, and in each of the six cruises, that means that they left some $580,000 to the artisanal sector and others from this city ​​and other neighboring towns.

During January of this year, six cruise ships arrived at the International Docks operated by the Manta Port Terminal.

Jessika Guadamud, president of the Manta Port Authority (APM) board of directors, affirmed that this port provides all the complementary facilities required by cruise ships within an optimal operational safety framework for ships, passengers, and crew.

According to the information from the APM, the next cruise ship that will arrive in Manta will be the Aurora, whose anchoring will take place this Friday, February 17. From there, four more cruise ships are expected to arrive until April when the season for the arrival of cruise ships to Manabí coasts ends. (YO)
