Contest #DibujoMisDerechos will promote the protection of the planet in children of Ecuador

Delegation of the European Union in Ecuador promotes this initiative for the second consecutive year. Winners will receive tablets as a prize.

The European Union (EU) in Ecuador invites girls and boys to participate in the II edition of the contest #DrawingMyRights. Participants must express in their proposals their graphic interpretation of their right to live on a sustainable and biodiverse planet.

The works have been received since October 25 and the deadline to submit them is November 19. A jury made up of representatives of the EU and its Member States present in the country and a professional artist will select 3 winners and 10 additional drawings for a special mention.

The results of the contest will be announced on EU social media (@UEEcuador on Instagram and @UEenEcuador on Facebook and Twitter) on December 10, International Human Rights Day.

“Caring for our environment is a joint task. In the European Union we are committed to achieving carbon neutrality by 2050, but to achieve this we must act collectively from all fronts. In this sense, children are key actors in climate action. With this second call we want to leave a clear message: If we all have the right to have a healthy and clean environment, we also have the responsibility to take care of it ”, says Charles-Michel Geurts, EU ambassador to Ecuador.

In the 2020 edition, about 300 boys and girls participated in the #DrawingMisDerechos contest, where they expressed their knowledge and feelings about Human Rights, embodying concepts such as respect, solidarity, peace, non-discrimination and equality in their proposals. through drawing techniques such as: watercolor, tempera, oil, charcoal, paints, crayons, among others.

The prizes are as follows:

First place: HUION brand Wireless professional drawing tablet, cover of the agenda and calendar of the EU in Ecuador 2022.

Second place: HUION brand professional drawing tablet, illustration of the month of January in the agenda and calendar of the EU in Ecuador 2022.

Third place: Drawing tablet HUION brand, illustration of the month of February in the agenda and calendar of the EU in Ecuador 2021.

These are the requirements to compete:

1. Be a resident of Ecuador and be between 9 and 12 years old.

2. Send a scan in PDF format of your drawing to unioneuropeaenecuador@gmail.com (this image will be shared on the Delegation’s social networks) with your name, age and telephone number.

3. The drawing must be done on Bond A4 paper oriented horizontally.

4. Proposals must respond to the theme established for this second edition: the right to live on a sustainable and biodiverse planet.

5. At the end of the contest participation period, the winners will be chosen based on their originality and above all on their suitability in terms of the message expressed.
