Former police officer who was involved in the robbery was shot in Quevedo after making purchases

The men who killed ex-police officer Fabián Lizardo Tubay Morejón waited for him to shop at a shopping center to shoot him.

This afternoon, more than 30 shots were heard by the inhabitants and witnesses of this violent death.

The ex-agent’s body was left inside the gray double-cab truck he was driving. Meanwhile, his wife was wounded with a shot to one of her feet.

Relatives of the deceased indicated that at approximately 4:00 p.m. this Monday he came to make purchases with his wife, Ninoska C., outside the commercial, the attackers stalked him like “chickens.”

Seeing him coming out, these subjects waited for him to place the purchases inside the double-cab van and board the vehicle to attack him repeatedly.

Witnesses indicated that there were three murderers and they were in a black vehicle.

The shots went directly to the driver’s side. Bullet marks were left on the door and windshield as evidence of the violent act.

Darwin Guevara, head of the Quevedo-Mocache Police district, said that the criminals used two types of weapons. At the scene, 20 5.56 caliber rifle ammunition and another 21 9 mm caliber were seized.

Guevara also reported that Fabián Lizardo was recently discharged. On September 12, 2022, he was arrested in Guayaquil along with four other men, including another gendarme, when they participated in a robbery in a building located on Sucre and Malecón streets, in the heart of the city of Guayaquil.

Fabián Lizardo was prosecuted and the previous October he was released. (YO)
