The majority (60%) of the Russians surveyed are not going to celebrate Valentine’s Day and spend money on gifts and entertainment, and 44% of respondents said that the Day of Family, Love and Fidelity, celebrated in Russia annually on July 8, is closer and more understandable to them.
According to RBC, the study, which involved more than 2 thousand people, was conducted by Post Bank.
Thus, 44% of the survey participants admitted that they are closer and more understandable to the July Day of Family, Love and Fidelity, timed to coincide with the Orthodox day of memory of Saints Prince Peter and his wife Fevronia. 20% of respondents prefer Valentine’s Day, which is celebrated in the world on February 14th.
36% of Russians polled said they were indifferent to both holidays.
Among those who will celebrate February 14, 52% will arrange a romantic evening at home; 46% will show each other small signs of attention (valentines); 20% of survey participants intend to spend the evening in a restaurant; 11% will go to the cinema, theater or other event; 9% are aiming for a romantic walk; 5% are going to travel together.
As for gifts, every second survey participant would like to receive flowers, 30% – valentines or other symbolic signs of attention, 20% – sweets, 16% – cosmetics and perfumes, 14% – jewelry. 10% of respondents would be happy with theater tickets, cinema tickets and gifts in the form of hobby goods. 4% dream of receiving a romantic song or poem as a gift.
Most of the respondents (34%) are ready to spend up to 2,000 rubles on gifts, 31% of respondents – up to 5,000 rubles. 21% of respondents are ready to allocate no more than a thousand rubles from the budget, and 7% of survey participants intend to spend up to 10,000 rubles.
