Five excuses received, this February 13, the occasional commission that investigates alleged corruption in public companies. The first to excuse himself was the President of the Republic, Guillermo Lasso, due to schedule commitments.

The Head of State, through a communication signed by the legal secretary of the Presidency in charge, excused himself from attending to give his testimony in this investigation. “Due to presidential agenda commitments, assumed in advance and planned weekly, I must inform you that the President of the Republic will not be able to attend the convened session,” he was informed.

The police commander, in his excuse, indicated that he cannot attend because he must comply with a previously planned agenda to deal with issues of importance to citizen security.

The director of the UAFE, Roberto Andrade, when presenting his excuse, indicated that he has previously agreed activities of the institution to carry out.

Likewise, the former Minister of Government Francisco Jiménez apologized, because he did not receive the respective call. The former president of Petroecuador Ítalo Cedeño also pointed out in the communication that he had already appeared before the Assembly’s Transparency and Citizen Participation Commission on the same issue and that the files contain all the responses on his presentation in the investigated case, he also attached a video.

Countdown

The president of the occasional commission, Viviana Veloz (UNES), warned President Guillermo Lasso that the commission began a countdown to present the report on this investigation and that he has less than ten to give his version on this case.

He indicated that the absence of the president in the commission turns his back on the Ecuadorian people and on the truth; What he is trying to do is guarantee impunity for his closest circle and his brother-in-law, Danilo Carrera, and prevent those responsible for this network of corruption from paying to justice for their illicit and illegal acts.

The legislator announced that in ten days the occasional table will conclude the investigation phase and will later deliver the report to the country and to the plenary session of the National Assembly. (YO)
