“There were three men who beat the boy, threatened him with weapons to steal his cell phone, money; they fled. And one of them, the one with a thick build, the neighbors managed to catch him before he left, ”commented one of the neighbors.

Uniformed officers who responded to the ECU911 alert indicated that they met a crowded and “inflamed” group of people who had already physically assaulted the subject, who confessed where the stolen cell phone was.

The police took the detainee, Jorge Josué AC, and the affected person to a house in the Seguro neighborhood, where a woman handed over the cell phone and $20. After that, the affected person did not want to file a formal complaint to start the process.

Colonel Marcelo Castillo, head of the Southern District, explained that the affected person did not want to continue with the complaint and could not be forced, so the apprehended subject was released.

The neighbors indicated that they are very upset by the increase in robberies in the area, and they took this opportunity to demand greater security in the area and launch an alert to the subjects that circulate in that citadel to take advantage of any opportunity for robbery.

This Monday afternoon, operations were carried out both on Avenida 25 de Julio and on Domingo Comín to prevent robberies in that southern area. (YO)
