The State Attorney General’s Office asks the Ministry of the Interior to annul the temporary transfer of the operational investigation team of the National Police

The State Attorney General’s Office (FGE) has requested the Ministry of the Interior to annul the temporary transfer of the operational team of National Police investigators that works in said instance, as well as the security leadership.

With this, according to the Prosecutor’s Office, it will avoid affecting judicial independence and the normal development of its activities. The request to the Interior portfolio was presented this Saturday, February 11.

Police order the temporary transfer of investigators assigned to the State Attorney General’s Office

In a statement released yesterday on Twitter, the FGE indicated that the director of Human Talent of the National Police ordered the temporary transfer of the entire operational investigation team. That in total there are 37 researchers who would be replaced by another team.

This measure is considered “a clear interference in justice, since it will limit the work that -independently- the FGE has been carrying out in the area of human rights.”

Through a new statement released this Sunday, February 12, the Prosecutor’s Office maintained that according to article 137 of the Organic Code of Citizen Security and Public Order Entities (Coescop), this instance presides over the governing body of the Comprehensive Specialized System of Investigation , Legal Medicine and Forensic Sciences (SEIIMLCF).

This, the institution remarked, gives it legal coverage to direct and coordinate the technical-investigative police personnel of the operating entities of the system, without being subject to officialdom of any kind.

“Consequently, the arbitrary and untimely transfer and change, without the knowledge and analysis of the new investigative personnel (20 servers from the Community Police are included), and which has not been accredited and validated by the SEIIMLCF steering committee, fragments the independence that must prevail in the Judicial Function, weakening the rule of law and preventing its effective and swift action in the search for truth, justice and against impunity,” he said in the statement this Sunday.

For its part, the National Police in a statement issued yesterday afternoon indicated that the number of personnel assigned to the Prosecutor’s Office is maintained, as is the security contingent of the Attorney General.

The Police explained that this decision is based on the fact that the personnel have completed their term and therefore the uniformed personnel were rotated, something that has been taking place in other institutions as well.

Number of investigators and escorts is maintained for the Prosecutor’s Office and other institutions, says the National Police

However, for the State Attorney General’s Office, the changes are “hurried” and “denote a clear intention to undermine peace of mind and jeopardize the personal integrity of the highest authority of this institution.”

This, since according to the FGE, part of this scheduled rotation exposed by the Police includes a part of the security leadership of the Attorney General (five members, including her head of security). (YO)
