Gina Aguilar will chair the Council for Citizen Participation and Social Control until next May

The Council for Citizen Participation and Social Control (CPCCS), this February 11, appointed Gina Aguilar Ochoa as president of the organization and Teddy Tama Aguirre as its vice president.

The two authorities took the required oath. In the first statements, Gina Aguilar pointed out: “Today the voice of the people, of the women and men who seek an ethical homeland, a just society where honesty prevails in public service, takes possession of this Council.”

While the vice president, Teddy Tama, pointed out that the Council will act “with great honor and attached to the law, since it is the only way to comply with the Constitution.”

This Council will remain in office for 93 days until they are replaced by the new authorities that were appointed in the elections held on February 5. In these three months, they will have to accelerate the nine public contests for the designation of control authorities.

The new Board is also made up of the directors Carlos Figueroa Figueroa, Aland Molestina Malta, Mónica Moreira Morán, Graciela Viviana Mora Ramírez and Olindo Nastacuaz Pascal.

President Gina Aguilar She has a degree in Educational Sciences and an educational psychologist. She is a technician in Gender and Development and has two higher diplomas in Gender, Management and Public Policies, as well as in Educational Management. She has been teaching for 25 years. She was president of the UNE-Núcleo Portovelo, founder and coordinator of the Portovelo Women’s Movement, member of the Anti-Corruption Civic Network and political leader of the Portovelo canton. In addition, she has been a promoter of the cantonal food sovereignty program La Taleguita Solidaria and an activist for women’s rights, citizen participation mechanisms and social control.

Vice President Teddy Tama He is a lawyer of the Tribunals and Tribunals of the Republic, graduated in Social and Political Sciences, as well as a Master’s in Procedural Law. He has practiced his profession at his law firm Tama y Asociados, and was an advisor to the Montecristi Assembly. He was also president of the Ecuadorian Corporation for Legal Studies and Training and has worked with citizens to promote social control mechanisms and training spaces. (YO)
