Ambato land of flowers and Altivo ambateño were part of the melodies that brightened the atmosphere of this town in the proclamation that took place from 09:00 this Saturday, February 11, with the participation of students from 34 educational units.
The activity opens the celebration of the 72nd edition of the Fruit and Flower Festival (FFF).

After two years in which the celebration had to take place in a different way due to the health emergency caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, on this occasion the traditional route along Cevallos Avenue to the municipality of Ambato was resumed.
According to estimates, around 100,000 people came to enjoy this proclamation.
Jorge Vélez, a native of Esmeraldas, was present at the parade, said that he liked it very much and stressed that after having overcome the most difficult part of the pandemic, it is important to go out again to participate in the Festival of Fruit and Flowers.
Josefina Flores, from Ambato, said that she was happy to see the proclamation in the center of the city again, even more so with the participation of the students who spread a lot of enthusiasm.

The clothing of the students’ comparsas symbolized fruits and flowers such as guaytambo, claudia, pear, apple, strawberry, capulí, walnut, uvilla, taxo, tree tomato, tangerine, blackberry, fig, carnation, sunflower, daisies, orchids, geraniums, lilies, hydrangeas, chrysanthemums, aguacollas, wallflower.
Eugenia Núñez, administrative coordinator of the Indoamérica educational unit, highlighted the participation of the students in the proclamation after the confinement that took place due to the pandemic, because she assured that going out to be part of the parade that opens the FFF allows them to develop many skills.
Borman Vargas, director of the Andean Integration Cultural Corporation, assured that the participation of the group is a contribution to the rebirth of flowers and fruits that are characteristic products of Ambato.
That, he said, was what motivated the beginning of the party after having experienced a critical situation such as the 1949 earthquake.

Diana Almeida, executive director of the Permanent Committee of the FFF, commented that with the proclamation the party officially begins, which between February 17 and 21 has the main days of celebration.
He stated that with the slogan that was chosen for this year: “we flourish for the world”, it aims to encourage the Ambateño, the Ecuadorian and the tourists not to give up and get ahead overcoming difficult situations such as the COVID-19 pandemic. . (YO)
