Rescuers completed the removal of rubble at the site of a collapsed house in Novosibirsk

Rescuers have completed work at the site of a household gas explosion and the subsequent collapse of a residential building in Novosibirsk. This was reported by Interfax with reference to the press service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Russian Federation.

358 people and 68 units of equipment were involved in the liquidation of the consequences of the incident.

Later, rescuers announced the completion of the search for people at the site of the explosion. According to the latest data, 13 people died.

“There are no grounds to believe that there may still be people in the destroyed house,” said Viktor Orlov, head of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations for the region.

He clarified that genetic testing may be required for identification.

Orlov also said that soon specialists would be allowed into the building to examine the surviving structures, as well as people to collect things and documents.

Recall that the explosion of household gas in the Novosibirsk five-story building occurred on Thursday morning. As a result, a fire started, two entrances partially collapsed.

On this fact, a case was initiated under Art. 238 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. Investigators reported that they had detained two residents of Omsk. They, according to the investigation, presented themselves as employees of Mezhregiongaz Service LLC and performed maintenance work on gas stoves in several apartments in the house.

In turn, the prosecutor’s office of the region will check the implementation of legislation in the field of housing and communal services.

Meanwhile, Friday has been declared a day of mourning in the Novosibirsk region.
