It will be used to equip food technology laboratories.
The Technical University of Ambato received 2.2 million dollars as part of the Ecuador-Spain Debt Exchange Program, money that will be used to equip food technology laboratories, the Ecuadorian Foreign Ministry reported.
The objective of this money is “to promote a culture of research linked to agricultural production in the province of Tungurahua,” says a statement from that institution.
Nancy Ampudia, director of International Bi-multilateral and South-South Cooperation, and member of the Technical and Binational Committee of the Exchange Program, was “pleased” that the Technical University of Ambato can “count on state-of-the-art equipment that will contribute to the development of the region”.
The research to be carried out by the study center will contribute to improving the agricultural products of the center of the country, both the coast and the mountains, which will help boost its economic and social development.
The University of Ambato, according to the official, is a benchmark for research, scientific development, transfer and business promotion in the region.
“We consider this exchange as a catalyst for new initiatives for the populations in the university’s area of influence,” he added after participating in the unveiling of plaques in recognition of the support provided by the Exchange Program.
The Foreign Ministry thanked Spain for its support through the Economic and Commercial Council of its Embassy in Ecuador, for the joint work that promotes projects that contribute to the progress of the Andean country. (I)
