Poland is ready to transfer fighter jets to Ukraine, but “not in the forefront,” Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki said at a press conference before the EU summit in Brussels.
“Our position here is clear. We can act only and exclusively within NATO. If such a decision is made, then we will not be the first to hand over fighters, ”Morawiecki emphasized.
At the same time, the prime minister noted that Poland does not refuse to transfer fighter jets to Ukraine, but is ready to do this after countries that have more aircraft, RIA Novosti reports.
“We will respond positively to this, provided that those who have the most of these fighters, have the most modern ones, will be able to transfer them to Ukraine. This is the only sequence in which I imagine this topic. In another sequence, Poland will not be in the forefront because we do not have enough fighters, so we have ordered new F-35s,” Morawiecki said. “Our security comes first here, and in this case, we cannot allow the weakening of our security,” he stressed.
