A disinfection arch against the Fusarium R4T was installed at the El Garrido tollbooth, on the El Guabo-Río Siete highway, in the province of El Oro.

The structure operates from this Thursday the 11th to fumigate cargo trucks that circulate along the section of the Machala – Guayaquil highway, in the Panamericana Sur, especially the automobiles coming from the north of Peru.

The first of the disinfection points was installed last June at the Binational Border Center (CEBAF) on the border between Ecuador and Peru. “What we intend is to apply preventive measures to prevent the entry of the fungus to banana plantations in the south of the country,” said the prefect of El Oro, Clemente Bravo.

The Prefecture of El Oro through an agreement with the Ministry of Agriculture intends to expand to three disinfection arches in this province.

For the placement of these equipment, the technical work will be accompanied by Agrocalidad specialists and banana producers.

“In the banana farms we are working to prevent the entry of Fusarium to our plantations, we have implemented various measures and restrictions in the activities of the field, processing and shipment of the fruit, “said Lianne Zoeteweij, representative of the Association of Small Producers of El Guabo, which groups around 130 members.
