Turkey restricted access to the social network Twitter (blocked in the Russian Federation at the request of Roskomnadzor). Such data is published by the NetBlocks organization, which monitors the work of the Internet and social networks.

At the same time, the report of the organization says that the social network was blocked after people began to use it to transmit information about the victims of the recent earthquake.

In addition, a failure is observed in the work of Tiktok, writes the Diken portal. A lot of videos have appeared on the social network about the consequences of the earthquake and the inability of the authorities to provide assistance.

The blocking of Twitter in Turkey was commented by an American businessman, the owner of the social network Elon Musk. “We are in touch to understand more,” he wrote in response to the post of one of the users, who said that people under the rubble are reporting their location on social networks.

Recall that on February 6, two earthquakes occurred in the southeast of Turkey – at 4:17 local time, the magnitude was 7.7 points, at 13:24 – 7.6 points. They have become the largest in almost a hundred years – since 1939, said Turkish President Tayyip Recep Tayyip Erdogan. According to the latest data, 6234 people were killed, more than 37 thousand were injured. Living victims continue to be found under the rubble.
