During the year of the military conflict in Ukraine, Western countries provided it with military, financial and humanitarian assistance worth about $120 billion, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said during a joint press conference with US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken.

At the same time, he stressed that the United States, as the largest ally within NATO, “plays an indispensable role in supporting Ukraine.” In addition, Stoltenberg recalled that European countries “became a refuge for almost 5 million Ukrainian refugees, adopted unprecedented sanctions and refuse gas and oil from Russia.” In his opinion, such actions demonstrate “how much we can do” when Europe and North America “stand shoulder to shoulder.”

The NATO Secretary General also added that at present the alliance “does not see signs that speak of the desire for peace on the part of Russia.” Therefore, according to him, Western countries should provide Ukraine with weapons that “will help her return the territories and remain an independent state.”
