For claiming the theft of a chicken from Víctor Vergara Mendoza, he was shot to death in the center of Junín, north of Manabí.
The incident occurred in the community of El Guasmo, 12 kilometers from the center of Junín. The events occurred on Sunday night when the 77-year-old man discovered that a chicken had been stolen from his farmyard.
Having suspicions of who would have stolen the bird, he went to the home of a man from the sector whom the neighbors recognize with the alias capulina.

The man confronted the alleged thief and he apparently would not have denied the alleged robbery, and before Vergara decided to continue confronting him, capulina decided to run away.
Vergara would have decided on Sunday night to follow the alleged thief, but from that moment he did not return home. It was not until Monday afternoon that he was found lifeless near the El Guasmo community, in the middle of bushes.
The whereabouts of the alleged cause of his death are unknown.
