Case was reported last night on Avenida 12 de Noviembre and Calle Mera. One person was injured as a result of the attack.

Lying in the middle of a pool of blood, next to an ecotacho, the lifeless body of a 25-year-old person was left in the attack perpetrated by another subject with a firearm on Avenida 12 de Noviembre and Calle Mera, in the downtown Ambato.
In this recent violent incident, a companion of the victim, approximately 25 years old, was wounded by a gunshot and is kept in isolation at the Ambato General Teaching Hospital.
With this case, in Tungurahua there have already been nineteen violent deaths so far this year, while in 2020 there were eighteen.
On the morning of this Thursday the 11th, Colonel Marco Muñoz, commander of Subzone 18 of the National Police, commented that around 10:00 p.m., while two people were at the scene, a third had arrived in order to attack the one who was finally injured in that area of downtown Ambate, where the presence of sex workers offering their services is usually evident. The target of the aggressor was not who died, according to inquiries.
For his part, Captain Paulo Viteri, head of the National Directorate of Investigation of Crimes Against Life, Violent Deaths, Disappearances, Kidnapping and Extortion (Dinased) in Tungurahua, explained that the mortal victim received a bullet impact at the level of the right ear, which exited through the left jaw, while the wounded man registered a shot at the level of the right chest and his condition is stable. The fatality does not have a police record.
Dinased agents continue with investigations to clarify the motive for the murder.
However, the Police presume that the motivation for the incident would be common violence and drug trafficking. Until this morning, there were no detainees in this case.
As part of the investigations, authorities also follow the respective protocols so that the injured person can provide a version under the supervision of the Prosecutor’s Office in order to obtain some information.
The head of the Dinased explained that on 12 de Noviembre Avenue, so far this year, four murders have been counted: three have been solved and on Wednesday night they act in flagrante delicto with specialized personnel from the Dinased with the in order to find the perpetrator of the fact. He added that, of the nineteen violent deaths so far in 2021, fourteen have been resolved.
Meanwhile, Commander Muñoz recalled that the 12 de Noviembre park area is being intervened by the different services of the institution, and that last Wednesday the 10th five operations were carried out until 8:00 p.m. with the removal of people who wander and remain in that area. (I)
