‘How am I going to feel? Frightened’: device exploded in the house of La Alborada

An explosive device detonated at the main access to a house on the third pedestrian street 1A, of the first stage of La Alborada, in the north of Guayaquil.

A security camera from the integrated service of ECU911 captured the moment of the attack in villa 14 on block P, around 12:45.

Two men on a motorcycle moved along a pedestrian street adjacent to a public educational facility, crossed José María Roura avenue and approached the house, next to the road, to place the explosive.

At the site, located in front of a private club and a public school, the police units arrived to carry out the investigations.

There, gendarmes from the preventive axis cordoned off the area and raised traces of the remains of the placed device.

At the time of the incident, the property was unoccupied, since the three relatives who reside there were on personal and work activities.

However, as a result of the shock wave, damage was left in the house in the lower part of the door, a wall that is located at the entrance to the home, in an upper window, two holes in the roof, and also in items such as a toaster, table and chairs.

On site, the residents of the building said they were unaware of the motivations for this attack.

“How am I going to feel?, scared. We don’t know why, we don’t have any business to say that they are ‘vaccines,’” said the man, who said that these kinds of events are replicated in other areas.

During this afternoon, repair work was carried out on the door, which was left with damage in the lower part.

For this Wednesday, one of the owners of the property indicated that he would approach the Prosecutor’s Office to file a complaint that promotes the continuity of the investigations by the Police.

According to neighbors, a month ago, another explosive device exploded in another house in the first stage of the Alborada. For now, they do not know the causes of these events. (YO)
