Demonstrators clashed with police in Paris as part of strikes and demonstrations against the pension reform government of Elizabeth Bourne, which proposed raising the retirement age from 62 to 64 for men and women. It is reported by Le Figaro.
According to the General Confederation of Labor, about 400,000 people came out to demonstrate in the French capital. Protesters smashed windows in buildings at the intersection between Boulevard Temple and Rue Charlot, after which the police began to disperse the crowd. The demonstrators started throwing stones at the police.
Demonstrations have been going on since January 19. French trade unions do not agree with the pension reform, according to which the retirement age by 2030 will increase by two years.
As part of the pension reform, it is also planned to increase the minimum pension by 100 euros, up to 1200 euros, for those who have a full length of service at the minimum wage. Now, in order to receive a full state pension in France, an employee must either have at least 41.5 years of work experience or retire between the ages of 62 and 67, depending on the year of birth.
