After registration and enrollment, the third step in the 2023 admission process to universities is underway

The third step in the 2023 admission process for some public universities is underway, once the first two have been passed.

The national registry was the first phase; it was developed between December 29, 2022 and January 12, 2023. Those interested in pursuing their higher education registered on the registrounicoedusup.gob.ec platform, implemented by the Secretary of Higher Education, Science, Technology and Innovation (Senescyt ).

There were 400,000 registered, of which 77,000 are people who would graduate from high school in the Costa-Galapagos regime soon and who would like to continue their studies in public universities.

The bulk of this group corresponds to those who have not obtained quotas in previous years. 280,000 high school graduates annually.

The second phase was registration. It was done from February 1 to 11:30 p.m. on February 5 for 52 technical and technological institutes, conservatories, law enforcement entities, and 14 public universities in the country.

High school graduates had to enter the platform, upload a photo according to the indicated specifications, register by clicking on the logo of the higher education institution of interest, and save and print the registration confirmation.

The third phase is evaluation. It would be carried out by each university or polytechnic school.

The Central University, for example, stated that they were not going to take an entrance test, but that the option was left open for the Senescyt to do so.

If the institution chosen by the applicant requested support from that state entity, the evaluation will be on the platform developed for that purpose. This phase would go until March.

As a preparation mechanism, Senescyt reported that there are two tools for high school graduates to train before choosing a career: a general leveling program that would strengthen skills and abilities, and the so-called “Academic offer search engine”, where they are current careers and higher education institutions in the country.

The fourth step is the application that the applicant will make with the institution in which he enrolled; or, if it requested support from the Senescyt, it will do so on the same platform https://www.registrounicoedusup.gob.ec/.

The fifth step is the acceptance of the quota. All applicants must accept it on the aforementioned platform.

The number of places for universities for this year has not yet been established. It should be remembered that in 2022 there were around 130,000 places.

The last step is the registration for those who have a quota. They must enroll directly at the institution where they obtained it. (YO)
