The governor of the Turkish province of Kahramanmarash, where the epicenter of the devastating earthquake was located, said it was impossible to name the exact number of victims. This is reported by the Anadolu agency.

According to Omer Choskun, at the moment it is extremely difficult to give an exact number of victims and wounded, as well as collapsed buildings. The damage is very serious, he stressed.

Meanwhile, 76 people died and 440 were injured in seven provinces, according to the Office of Emergency Management.

The Consulate General of the Russian Federation in Istanbul told RIA Novosti that it has not yet received requests from Russian citizens in connection with the devastating earthquake.

ATOR added that the earthquake in Turkey did not occur in the tourist area. There are no Russian organized tourists in these regions, the association added.

Meanwhile, in Syria, the number of victims of a powerful earthquake exceeded 110 people, 516 were injured.

Recall that an earthquake of magnitude 7.8 occurred this morning in southern Turkey and was accompanied by powerful aftershocks. According to the US Geological Survey, the epicenter of the first shock was at a depth of 18 km, about 33 kilometers from the city of Gaziantep, 26 kilometers from the city of Nurdagi and 90 km from the Syrian border, and even in Egypt, the earth wobbles were felt.
