Guillermo Lasso exercised his right to vote and affirmed that security in the elections is guaranteed

Accompanied by his wife and the governor of Guayas, the president William Lasso paid in the sectional elections 2023on the morning of this February 5, at the Iliana Espinel Cedeño Millennium Educational Unit, located north of Guayaquil.

Around 9:40 a.m., the president arrived. He greeted supporters and the four members of his Vote Receiving Board. It took five minutes to defray. He only showed the popular consultation ballot, which was promoted by his government, and where it was seen that he voted Yes on the eight questions. The rest of the ballots were deposited in the ballot boxes without showing them.

Until last February 1, Lasso had not decided who to vote for, as he indicated in a press conference, although he assured that “he did know who not to vote for’: “I am not going to vote for who has destroyed the finances of the Municipality of Guayaquil in the last four years”said the president.” Although she did not say her name, she was referring to the current mayor of Guayaquil Cynthia Viteri, and that she is a candidate for re-election.

Viteri and Lasso have maintained a series of conflictsespecially due to the security policy and the crime wave that Guayaquil and the country are experiencing.

On the morning of this February 5, he was asked if he had already decided his vote for the different dignities that are elected and argued that out of respect for democracy and electoral silence he will not say it and that he will wait for the results.

“What I pronounced before I did at campaign time and now we are in the elections. You have to wait for the results, ”she noted.

When asked about the security of the elections in relation to the murder of a candidate for mayor in Puerto López, Manabí, on February 4, he assured that it is insured.

“We regret what happened in Puerto López and we are doing everything possible to find the culprits,” he said.

After paying Lasso, he said goodbye to his supporters and embarked in a black car accompanied by security and intelligence personnel. He is expected to return to Quito to await the results of the elections. (YO)
