Russian fighter Fedor Emelianenko lost to American Ryan Bader in his final fight of his career. According to RBC, the fight took place as part of the Bellator 290 tournament in Inglewood, California.
The fight ended already in the first round and lasted 2 minutes and 39 seconds. Bader knocked the Russian on his back in the second minute. Then Emelianenko missed a series of strikes on the ground, and the referee stopped the fight.
Thus, Emelianenko was unable to win the Bellator Heavyweight Championship, which belonged to Bader.
After the defeat, Emelianenko officially announced his retirement. The Russian took off his fighting gloves and left them in the octagon.
In January 2019, Emelianenko lost to Bader by knockout 35 seconds into the first round of the Bellator Heavyweight Grand Prix Final. Bader became the first fighter in history to defeat Emelianenko twice.
